What Types of Therapy?
I do strength-based Person Centered Therapy. You are the expert of your own life. I am here to guide and assist you to become more empowered in the ways that matter to you. Together, we might choose to incorporate other therapies as we go along, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, to help you in specific areas. We will collaborate on therapy options and what might suit you.
Everything starts with awareness.
We tend to default to negative thoughts, often the same ones over and over again. This is a survival mechanism to get us thinking about situations that need to be resolved for our survival or safety. Positive thoughts however are rarely thought about more than once.
So, it's important to develop awareness of where our thoughts go and how we can be more present. This is mindfulness. This affects how you interact with other people, your performance and productivity, how you go about your days. Even your emotional regulation.
Does your mind wander?
We may become lost in negative thoughts without even being aware of it.
How does this then affect the moment? The day you're having? When your mood plummets, it's easy to lose interest in socializing or doing something fun. You might just want to turtle and brood.
What about the reverse? When you're happy, something good has just happened, chances are you want to share it with your friends. Reaching out comes more naturally when you're happy. You want to connect with others.
Mindfulness is not just positive thinking. It's being aware of one's mental state and emotions and using the information these are giving you. You can then choose how to

What Can Counsellors Do?
Counsellors work with clients facing common life challenges rather than severe, long-term mental health issues.
My scope of practice includes but is not limited to depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, stress management, emotional distress, mental health wellness, sexual health, and other mild to moderate issues.
My Approach
respond rather than it being an unconscious reaction that you regret later. It is creating space between your experience and your emotional state.
The question then becomes how you integrate this for yourself in your own life. This varies from person to person and forms the heart of self-improvement and our work together.
