Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you work?

I work exclusively online. All sessions are done by secure video conferencing.

Do you work with all ages?

I specialize in working with individuals age 30+.

Yes. Click the "book now" button to book a free 20-minute consultation to see if we're a good fit.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require a minimum of 24 hours' notice to cancel an appointment.

What does it mean that you're a "provisional" counsellor?

This means I receive guidance and support from a trained supervisor until I have accumulated the required number of hours, like an internship. After that, every counsellor receives supervision on an as-needed basis. Regardless, all counsellors under the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association must receive a certain number of hours of supervision and continuing education every year to ensure competency.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. You have the right to confidentiality.

There are a few exclusions. These are the things I have a duty to report:

► any threat of imminent harm to yourself or others

► any suspicion or risk of abuse or neglect of any vulnerable person (such as a child, the elderly, or someone disabled)

► in a medical emergency, I may have to share some of your information

► if I ever get subpoenaed by the court, I may have to divulge selected information

If you want me to send information about you to anyone such as your family physician or another mental health professional, I can do so after receiving your signed permission.

Do you do free consultations?
Are you covered by insurance?

In some cases, yes. Check to see if your policy covers "counsellors." Some policies only cover psychologists or social workers.
